0811Since Sri Lanka is expected to enter into a Free Trade Agreement with China, Sri Lanka Apparel Exporters Association organized a seminar at Hilton Colombo Residence on the 5th of August 2014 for the Apparel Exporters of Sri Lanka. The aim was to enhance the knowledge and quality awareness on supervisory regulations and mandatory testing requirement of textile & apparel market of China.

Dr. Jane Jiang, SGS Global Director for Softline (Textile and Apparel Industry) was the guest speaker, assisted by Mr. Joey Zou of SGS China. Mr. Yohan Lawrence, the chairman of SLAEA while making the opening address reiterated the advantages and benefits and the positive impact a free trade agreement with China would make on Sri Lanka‚Äôs economy. Almost 82 personnel including high officials and experts in apparel trade participated in the seminar. 

The seminar was very successful and concluded with great enthusiasm among the participants to further expand the textile & clothing industry of Sri Lanka to meet the requirements of newer markets among which China would be one of the biggest.
